"Take care to proclaim that the great god Pan is dead"

The Past
As the mortals took over and expanded their cities into his forests, Pan was the first to go. Slowly the gods weakened. Their power draining from them as mortals seemed to no longer need them. The less powerful deities died off as mortals began to turn from them. Their temples crumbled, uncared for. They were forgotten. As Rome fell, so did the Olympians. One harvest Dionysus fell asleep for the winter, but did not awaken the next spring. Even Zeus had been forgotten. Withered and aging, his power drained, he fell. Not to be outdone by this brother, Hades clung to existence for some time after the death of Zeus, but as the mortal idea of the afterlife changed, even he lost his powers and succumbed to the same disease as the rest of his family.

With no one to guard them, the Titans were free. Free to cause chaos for over a thousand years. War upon war was fought under their influence. Not all things were bad in those times. As Prometheus had brought fire to the mortals, he also aided their advances in science and medicine. But like fire, technology can bring pain, suffering and death. The mortals abused these gifts, using them to hurt each other, over and over again. Prometheus, being the good and logical Titan that he was, could see that the mortals could use some guidance. Guidance that the gods had once provided.

The Present
Luckily for him, the gods had not truly died. Once immortal, always immortal. They had simply, and painfully, gone dormant. They bided their time as they slept, their powers growing as they revived themselves, eventually reincarnating into mortal families. With the exception of poor Pan, the first to die were the first to reincarnate. Nymphs, satyrs, centaurs, and the like were born looking much like normal humans often with strange gifts, but no memory of their lives in ancient times. They blended in well. The gods followed shortly after, Zeus, Hades and Pan were the last to reincarnate. Pan’s power was greatly depleted and difficult to obtain due to the pollution and man’s disregard for nature.

And what better place to rebirth than somewhere that reminded them of home? Mount Tamalpais, not too far from San Francisco, CA was ideal. Beautiful, near the ocean, in wine country… The gods, made their home in Mill Valley, CA, a small community about 4 miles from San Francisco, that sits near the base of Mt. Tam (as the locals call it) along with a few unincorporated towns like Strawberry, Tamalpais-Homestead Valley and Muir Beach, all of which share the same zip code and high school (Tamalpais High School). The area is known for its art, theater and beautiful scenery. Naturally it was the perfect homes for young gods, unaware of their past, but fully aware that they are different. Perhaps with the help of Prometheus they will once again realize their potential and ascend to their rightful thrones. But first they have to survive high school.
